Analytical Techniques for Helicopter Component Reliability
نویسندگان
چکیده
An effective analytical approach without Monte Carlo simulation was previously presented by the U.S. Army (Ref. [1]) to evaluate fatigue reliability of helicopter dynamic components. This analytical approach required selection of a reference S/N curve for damage evaluation. Overall reliability of a given life was based on the assumption of weighted sums of the equivalent damage rates of all steps in the load spectrum. A sensitivity study indicated that the reference S/N curve chosen might influence the accuracy of the solution. This paper is a follow-on development of the analytical reliability approach. Reliability is evaluated using the S/N curve that produces the same damage sum at its retirement time when load and usage are applied in distributions. The method does not require selection of a reference S/N curve or the weighted reliability assumption. It is easier to understand and implement from a computation point of view. Reliability results of the AHS Round Robin problems (Refs. [2] and [3]) will be presented using both analytical approaches and compared to Monte Carlo simulation solutions. The solution times are also compared to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed analytical approaches.

Design and evaluation of helicopter landing variants for firefighting in Golestan National Park, Northeast of Iran
Helicopter landing sites in proximity to the forest fire-risk zones are necessary for the delivery of supplies and fire emergency response teams. In this paper, we initially prepared forest fire risk map using Random Forest algorithm by overlaying the effective factors on fire occurring including vegetation types, physiographic, climatic and human factors. Then, three variants of natural candid...

متن کاملImproved Mathematical Model for Helicopters Flight Dynamics Applications
The purpose of this paper is concerned with the mathematical model development issues, necessary for a better prediction of dynamic responses of articulated rotor helicopters. The methodology is laid out based on mathematical model development for an articulated rotor helicopters, using the theories of aeroelastisity, finite element and the time domain compressible unsteady aerodynamics. The he...
متن کاملDetection of Sensor Faults in Small Helicopter UAVs Using Observer/Kalman Filter Identification
Reliability is a critical issue in navigation of unmanned aerial vehicles UAVs since there is no human pilot that can react to any abnormal situation. Due to size and cost limitations, redundant sensor schemes and aeronautical-grade navigation sensors used in large aircrafts cannot be installed in small UAVs. Therefore, other approaches like analytical redundancy should be used to detect faults...
